The Tally Sync Agent is a lightweight Windows application that connects your cloud-hosted Shopify sync to your local Tally installation. This guide walks through the complete setup process.
Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure you have:
Hardware Requirements
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
- 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended)
- 100MB free disk space

Software Requirements
- TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 installed
- A Shopify store with our app installed
- Admin access to the Windows machine
Tally Configuration
- Company data file accessible
- ODBC server enabled (we'll configure this)
Step 1: Download the Sync Agent
From Your Dashboard
- Log in to your Edesy dashboard
- Navigate to Shopify Tally Sync → Setup
- Click Download Sync Agent
- Save the installer (TallySyncAgent-Setup.exe)
The file is approximately 45MB.
Verify Download
Right-click the downloaded file → Properties → Digital Signatures
You should see "Edesy Technologies" as the signer. This confirms the file hasn't been tampered with.
Step 2: Install the Sync Agent
Run the Installer
- Right-click TallySyncAgent-Setup.exe
- Select Run as Administrator
- If Windows SmartScreen appears, click More Info → Run Anyway
Installation Steps
Welcome Screen: Click Next
License Agreement: Read and accept → Next
Installation Location:
Default: C:\Program Files\Edesy\TallySyncAgent
Change if needed → Next
Start Menu Folder: Default: Edesy Tally Sync Agent → Next

Step 3: Configure Tally for External Connections
The sync agent connects to Tally via ODBC/XML. Enable this in Tally.
Open Tally Prime
- Launch TallyPrime
- Open your company
Enable ODBC Server
- Press F12 (Configure)
- Go to Advanced Configuration
- Set these options:
- Enable ODBC Server: Yes
- Port: 9000 (default, change if needed)
- Enable TDL Developer Mode: Yes (recommended)
Save and Restart
- Press Ctrl+A to accept
- Exit Tally completely
- Restart Tally and open your company

Step 4: Configure the Sync Agent
First Launch
When the agent starts, you'll see the configuration wizard.
Connection to Cloud
Server URL:
Pre-filled: wss://sync.edesy.in
(Don't change unless instructed)
Registration Code:
- Go to your Edesy dashboard
- Copy the registration code
- Paste it here
Click Test Cloud Connection
- Should show: "Connected to cloud server"
Connection to Tally
Tally Host:
Default: localhost
(Change only if Tally is on a different machine)
Tally Port:
Default: 9000
(Match what you set in Tally)
Company Name: Enter your Tally company name exactly as it appears in Tally
Click Test Tally Connection
- Should show: "Connected to [Company Name]"
Complete Setup
If both tests pass, click Complete Setup
The agent will:
- Register with the cloud server
- Start listening for sync commands
- Show status: "Ready"
Step 5: Verify the Installation
System Tray
The agent runs in the system tray (near the clock).
Icons:
- Green: Connected and ready
- Yellow: Connecting or minor issue
- Red: Connection error
